Saturday marked the official opening of Astralis’ new center for gaming, education and esports entertainment: Astralis Nexus.
During the day more than 2,500 fans defied the heatwave and dropped by to meet the players from the Astralis pro teams and talents, and to experience the 1,200 square meters (13,000 sqft) of gaming stations, VIP rooms, merchandise store, auditorium, streaming studios, show room and practice facilities.
Many COVID restrictions have been lifted, however for safety reasons only a limited number of visitors were allowed inside at a time. Neither this nor the +30 deg c outside deterred the massive number of fans, who already started to queue up before 4 AM for the 10 AM opening.
Jakob Lund Kristensen, co-Founder of Astralis:
- It is an understatement to say we are overwhelmed by the number of people who showed up for the opening of Astralis Nexus and the number of people deciding to become members during our first weekend. We ended up welcoming more than 2,500 guests during the official opening and our evening event who all came to celebrate esports and gaming.
- On top of the opening celebration with a live DJ, giveaways, and special offers, the guests had the chance to meet the pro- and talent players from our teams as well as some of the biggest streamers in Denmark. Astralis Nexus is all about giving back to the community who has shown us tremendous support throughout the years, and it was such a humbling feeling to see all the young, not so young, and older fans drop by and enjoy the day to the fullest.

- By opening the first Astralis Nexus in the heart of Copenhagen, right next to and together with the iconic Tivoli Gardens, we want to make a statement – you cannot avoid us, and you cannot ignore esports and gaming no more, says the Astralis co-Founder.
- The place has been designed for casual gaming, education, events, tournaments and whatever we and the esports scene can come up with, and it is built to show that gaming is competition, skills, and practice, but it is also just great entertainment.
- This is very much for all the Astralis fans, but by facilitating the digital world of gaming in physical surroundings where everybody will feel welcome, we hope to create a space for all who share a passion for gaming and esports, for the fans and for all the thousands of people visiting Copenhagen each year. Most of them will see our place as we are right in the middle of the city center, and we see a huge potential in the developing this new part of our business, Jakob Lund Kristensen concludes.
