A Challenging Defeat in Late-Night Drama

The absolute need for unwavering confidence and intense concentration becomes crucial in single elimination brackets, particularly in Best-of-One (Bo1) matches.

On July 11th, the main team faced a challenging test in a late-night matchup against SAW, experiencing a regrettable outcome that underscored the importance of precision in this unforgiving game format.

Unfortunately, Benjamin "blameF" Bremer and his teammates suffered a 16-8 defeat on Inferno, destroying their chances of securing a coveted spot in the highly anticipated Gamers8 2023 LAN tournament in late August.

casle: - It's always challenging to accept a defeat and exit a qualifier early, but we should remember that the team has only trained together briefly.

Couldn't bridge the gap in 2nd half

The Danes encountered difficulties countering the Portuguese squad's T-side strategy, resulting in a challenging 11-4 halftime deficit.

After the sides switched, the Danish Quintet bravely fought back but regrettably could not bridge the gap on the scoreboard.

casle: We must view these duels as valuable lessons

The head coach, Peter "Casle" Ardenskjold, comments on the exit from the Open Qualifier:

- It's always challenging to accept a defeat and exit a qualifier early, but we should remember that the team has only trained together briefly.

- Overall, the players did well and kept fighting and believing in themselves. So, in that way, I'm satisfied with the players' performances.

- We must view these duels as valuable lessons that our new lineup can bring with them into the upcoming BLAST Fall Groups, starting this Friday afternoon.

- It's always challenging to accept a defeat and exit a qualifier early, but we should remember that the team has only trained together briefly, casle says.

- However, it is fair to admit that we were not strong enough in our efforts against SAW to compel them to use their utility.

- The late hour had an impact on the team's energy levels, and as a result, the guys weren't as energized as they could have been towards the end.

- Against SAW, we fell behind quickly, and it took a lot of work trying to force a comeback.

- We lost both pistol rounds and the first buy rounds on both sides, therefore, struggling with our economy.

- We know that we could win against any team in the open qualifier, but it's fair to say that we have had difficulties, especially against SAW, in the past. Yesterday, they played a good game of Counter-Strike and showed solid individual skills.

dev1ce: I want to make the fans proud again

Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz expressed on Twitter the significance of the valuable lessons learned by the new and reshuffled roster, despite the disappointing exit.

These lessons will be carried forward into the upcoming BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023.

Watch the post-match interview with dev1ce, where the seasoned AWPer shows his gratitude for all the Astralis fans' continuous support despite the team's early exit from the Gamers8 Europe Open Qualifier 2.
