  • Date: June 24th, 25th, 26th, 2023
  • Opponent: MAD Lions, Vitality, G2 Esports
  • Tournament: LEC Summer Split (LAN), Regular Season
  • Result: 0-1 vs MAD Lions, 1-0 vs Vitality, 0-1 vs G2 Esports

In Week 2 of LEC Summer Split, the League of Legends team faced three of the four playoff teams from the Spring Split.

The momentum from a dominating victory in the opening week was much needed to challenge this week's opponents.

In the first game of Week 2, the team went head-to-head with MAD Lions, defending champion and current league leader.

As mentioned in a previous interview by Toplaner Finn "Finn" Wiestål, it has been a focus for the team to defeat the defending champions.

The squad started off on the right foot by securing first blood but fell behind mid-game. While down in gold, K/D and drakes, the team's nexus fell to a Baron-empowered MAD Lions.

Seizing the Lead in Epic Fashion

The second match of the week, against Vitality, was pure storybook entertainment.

The two teams split the drakes as the gold difference went back and forth as the game progressed.

A deciding factor, and win condition, was a team fight in the 25th minute, in which the squad secured an ace. From there, the team took the lead and smoothly progressed towards the Vitality nexus.

The guys showed excellent collaboration and team play as they secured the second victory of the split.

At the 18-minute mark, the teams were equal in gold and had slain one drake each. From there, G2 started building up bank, securing another drake and the Baron Nashor while pushing forward.

The gameplay was remarkably clean from both teams, demanding only little bloodshed.

G2 secured the victory after 27 minutes, in which there had been only ten kills in the entire match.

The Team's Fate Rests in Their Own Hands

After an intense Week 2, the team managed to secure one more victory, but unfortunately lost two out of three matches. As a result, they currently hold the sixth place in the standings, tied with SK Gaming, KOI, and Team BDS.

The upcoming Week 3 will be crucial as it will determine which teams qualify for the group play and continue to compete for a spot in the prestigious playoffs.

In order to advance to the group stage, the squad needs to secure some wins. Out of the total of 10 teams, only eight will qualify for the next stage.

Heading into the last week of the regular season, the team's fate rests in their own hands.

Only the top two teams have secured a playoff spot, and everything will be settled in the coming week.

The standings after W2:

  • The next match is on July 1st at 18:00 CEST against SK Gaming.
  • On July 2nd, the guys will face off EXCEL at 18:00 CEST.
  • Ultimately, on July 3rd, they will take on KOI at 20:00 CEST.
