The 25th season of POWER Ligaen has begun. Both the Talent- and Women's team claimed victories during their first matches.
This week, the first and only game in POWER Ligaen was between Andreas "kiR" Kirstein's troop and Preasy Rising. The two academy teams faced off on Ancient, a well-known map by the Talents.
Both squads came out swinging as the match was tied 6-6 at half-time. Everything changed when the Talents switched to the CT side, beginning with a 3K with the dualies from Emil "kroK" Wiedemann.
The remainder of the rounds, except a single one, was won by the Talent squad, who finished the match by succeeding in a 3v3 retake on the A-site to claim the victory 13-7. Catch the highlights from the match beneath.
kiR is calm and collected as he overcomes the opponents ambush in the second round.
The 19-year-old rifler definitely knows how to handle the dualies.
kroK extends his 3K-per-round streak as he defends the A site.
Preasy Rising got the bomb plant, but didn't win their duels. Instead, kiR, JBOEN and Alexander "tOPZ" Miklagard pulled off a retake-situation.
On top of the scoreboard sits the IGL, kiR, with 23 frags and an incredible 1.79 rating. Jason "JBOEN" Boe Nielsen and kroK are tied with 18 frags each, but the first-mentioned reached a better K/D as he only died nine times during the 20 rounds.
On Monday, January 22, the Talent team will fight against:
Last season, the Women's squad maintained their spot in the 4th division of POWER Ligaen; this time, they're hungry for more. Aurora "aurora" Lyngdal, the IGL of the team, spoke about the expectations for this season and more, which you can read about here.
Aurora: - With just a little more experience and the whole team stepping up on the server, we could be a strong and fierce team.
The improvement from last season is undeniable as they won both their matches this week against AaB Female and Egedal Esport.
aurora & co. marked themselves as a threat on Anubis as they quickly gained the first four rounds, but the opponents responded with three consecutive rounds afterward, making the score 4-3.
AaB Female couldn't continue their round-winning streak and couldn't handle the performance from Josefine "josefine" Jensen and Marie "marie" Toft, achieving 17 frags each to win the match 13-3.
With the help from a single flash, thrown by aurora, anja and josefine denies entrance to the A-site on Anubis.
Isabella "Ismo" Ferslev steps up in a 3v2 retake situation.
marie hides on the A-site as three opponents walk in and think the site is clear.
With 17 frags each, josefine and marie battles for the match MVP, but with a 0.03 rating difference josefine claims the top spot on the scoreboard.
Despite being behind 0-2 at the start of the first half, they fought their way back into the game thanks to a fantastic B-defense from Anja "anja" Soelberg and a lockdown on the A-ramp by josefine and Ismo.
After leading 8-4, it was time to switch sides. Egedal Esport grabbed the impactful pistol round, which meant the following round had to be an eco-round from Astralis W.
Surprisingly, five Glock-18s towards the B-site can overcome a team with rifles and SMGs. That began a four-round streak, reaching match point and a 12-5 score. The enemies responded with two rounds in a row, but ultimately the match was won 13-7 by aurora's troops.
As Egedal Esports tries to run into the A-site, anja swings out from her position behind the pillar and remove two enemies, which basically secures the round.
A double nade setup into the corner of ramp results in two kills - one being a team-kill. The remaining players gets wiped out directly after.
An insane round which ends up defining the outcome of the match.
The 16-year-old rifler, marie, seeks the title as the new smoke criminal after this play.
Once again, josefine grabs the first place on the server with 22 frags, four first kills and a 1.40 rating versus Egedal Esports. As seen from the highlights and by the stats as well, it was a team performance on Vertigo.
On Monday, January 22, the Women's team will face:
