The main team has secured a spot in the Playoffs after a 2-0 victory over Brazilian FURIA in the ESL Pro League Season 18 Lower Bracket Group A Final! After a convincing win against GamerLegion in their previous match, the Danes went into the Bracket Final confident and pumped!
Overpass was the first map of the afternoon, the Danes' map pick. Starting on the T-side, the Danish squad kicked off the map, winning four of the first five rounds, followed by a few setbacks where FURIA secured a few rounds to even the score at 4-4. As per usual, the boulder that is blameF demonstrated his phenomenal IGL skills and incomparable firepower and led the main team to an 11-4 half.
After a quick break, the Danes continued making FURIA furious with a rather dominating CT-side, as well. Aside from blameF's massive 1.78 rating, other shining stars on Overpass were Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz and Christian 'Buzz' Andersen, who finished the game with 1.39 and 1.37 ratings, respectively!
The stakes were high on Nuke, FURIA's map pick, as one more map win would secure a spot in the Playoffs of ESL Season 18. Even though the Brazilians managed to start off the map better than the Danes, the main team proved that Astralis' history of Nuke isn't entirely lost. Ending the first half with a 9-6 score, the Danes could practically smell the Plaoffs.
The smell of sweat was perhaps evident in the room as FURIA dominated the beginning of the second half and took the score to 10-13.
Enough was enough for coach Peter 'casle' Ardenskjold and the rest of the main team, as they dominatingly ended FURIA's momentum to secure a 16-13 win!
The win over FURIA secures a well-earned spot in the Playoffs that runs from September 29 - October 01. The Danish squad will undoubtedly prove why they deserve this spot and expect nothing but the same magnificent support as usually provided by their great fans!
