With the departure of the iconic in-game leader Aurora 'aurora' Lyngdal and the redefinition of our women's roster, it's now time for the two young guns, Isabella 'Ismo' Ferslev and Marie' marie' Toft, to step up and take the lead for our new lineup.
Despite being only 17 and 16 years old, this talented duo now carries the responsibility of leading the team as the sole "veteran" players who’ve been with Astralis the longest.
Ismo: "I expect us to give our best and learn a lot this season. Competing for a LAN finals spot would be incredible."
On August 28, the new lineup is set to dive into the ESL Impact League Season 6 Europe Division. Before the action kicks off, we caught up with Ismo to discuss the recent changes and how she's preparing to step up as one of the key leaders in the reorganized roster.
"The ESL Impact League is the most important tournament of the fall, so we've been putting in a lot of preparation over the past few weeks. We've worked hard to fine-tune our map pool, focusing on expanding our strat-book to ensure we know exactly what to do in critical matches. Plus, we have backup plans if things don't go as expected. Additionally, with two players—pullox and KiTKaT—taking on new roles since joining, we've ensured they're comfortable and confident in their positions."
What do you need to focus on to achieve success?
"First and foremost, we must stay committed to the plans we've developed over the past month. It's also essential that we quickly learn from each match we play. Additionally, maintaining high team spirit and supporting each other during matches will be crucial to our success."
How's the vibe with the new lineup, and how are the teammates and overall energy coming together?
"It's been fantastic getting to know the three new girls. The vibe during practice and matches is always great, and we're good at hyping each other up when someone makes a big play. We've quickly learned each other's playstyles and personalities, which makes it easy to play as a cohesive team.
What kind of game plan and style would you love to see the new women's team adopt?
"I hope we continue improving our ability to adapt our playstyle, whether we need to play aggressively or passively, depending on our opponents. The key is quickly adjusting to what the other team is doing and figuring out what works best for us against various playstyles."
This summer, we welcomed three new players to the women's team, all recruited from ex-Guild Esports: Thea 'pullox' Evensen, Linnea 'Nea' Claesson, and our new IGL, Katharina' KiTKaT' Bauenmand. They are all ready to make their mark under the shining Astralis star.
