Yesterday, October 7, 2024, the Main team grabbed their first win at IEM Rio 2024 by beating in-form Eternal Fire on Inferno 13-11.
In the opening game of Group B, the main squad met Turkish side Eternal Fire in an important best-of-one fixture.
Our Turkish opponent has been in great shape recently, especially on Inferno, beating teams like NAVI and Vitality on the particular map.
There was action from the first round as Casper "cadiaN" Møller and Co. had to complete a retake on B-site to gain an early lead in the match.
It seemed to be a close affair in the first half, but the Danes claimed some momentum after locking down round 6 in style with a collateral from Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz.
On A-site, Victor "Staehr" Staehr felt comfortable in Pit and played it to perfection as he achieved a 12-1 K/D moments before half-time.
Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş and his troops finished the first half with a round win, switching sides with a 9-3 score. The Turkish squad fought back on the CT side, eventually climbing back to a 12-11 scoreline. In the meantime the Main squad turned around a crucial round on A site, as well as Staehr almost saving a round on B.
In the decisive round, the teams found themselves in a 2v2 on the A-site, with the Danes having just planted the bomb. Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard's backstab in T-apps was paramount for the round, which led to a 2v1 where Martin "stavn" Lund finished off the remaining player to secure a 13-11 victory.
