casle Before Spring Final: We Have to Communicate Better in the Crucial Rounds

June 7, 2023

On Friday, June 2nd, the main team faced off against MOUZ (#11) on the first day of the playoffs at the Dallas IEM tournament.

Unfortunately, the Danish Quintet was unable to secure a victory in the quarter-final against the European Combine.

After a closely contested battle, gla1ve and his teammates were defeated in a 2-0 series, despite their strong performance in the LAN tournament's group stage. As a result, they missed the opportunity to compete for the IEM Dallas trophy. Ultimately, they finished in 5th-6th place.

Before the Danes' match against FaZe in the opening round of Group B at the BLAST Premier Spring Final in Washington, the main team coach, Peter  "casle" Ardenskjold, took some time to reflect on his team's performance in Dallas and identify areas for improvement before entering the final significant LAN tournament before the player break.

Grateful for the support in the grand arena

Coach casle on the Danish squad's performance in Dallas:

- All of the players performed well and showed some great rounds. However, dev1ce particularly stood out with an exceptional performance throughout the tournament.

What left the most significant impact on you?

- I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic support from the fans and spectators.

- I know for a fact that the players felt the same way.

- It was heartwarming to feel the enthusiasm and encouragement of everyone in the grand arena.

What caused the issues in the quarter-final match against MOUZ?

- Although we performed strongly on Inferno, we faced difficulties securing the crucial rounds and needed more confidence during critical moments. On Ancient, we struggled to string together consecutive rounds on the T site, which had a negative impact on our economy. Meanwhile, MOUZ played exceptionally well, consistently scoring multiple kills.

Something to improve?

- We have to communicate better in the crucial rounds, and then, of course, we need to look at some tactical things.

What did you learn from your time in Dallas that you can use for the upcoming Spring Final in Washington?

- Our team has proven that we can take on any opponent, and we've put ourselves in great positions throughout our matches in Dallas. Now, it's on us to close the rounds and secure the victories in Washington.

What's the plan leading up to the Spring Final?

- We'll be training a bit, reviewing some theory, and taking care of our usual pre-game preparations to prepare for the battle.
