The 19-year-old prodigy Alexander "Altekz" Givskov has recently completed his first LAN tournament with the main team and is now preparing for his second.
As he gears up for the BLAST Premier Spring Final in Washington, D.C., Altekz took a short break to reflect on his LAN debut with the main team.
Right from the start in the opening round of IEM Dallas 2023, the young talent showcased an outstanding performance, securing 29 frags and an impressive 1.30 rating.
This strong display earned him the title of the match MVP against Liquid.
Despite the loss in the Upper Final of Group B to ENCE, Altekz and the team managed to qualify for the Dallas playoffs.
This allowed him to savour his first appearance on the big stage alongside gla1ve and the other members of the team.
Undoubtedly, it was an exhilarating experience for the upcoming Rifler, even though it all ended with a frustrating exit in the quarterfinal against MOUZ.
Alexander "Altekz" Givskov on his LAN debut in Dallas:
How was it to enter the grand arena with the audience cheering you guys on?
- I felt amazing!
- But once I got into the zone and kicked off the match against MOUZ, it felt like stepping onto the grand stage at Gamebox Festival back home, where we had a Q&A session with all the Danish fans watching.
- Walking through the crowd towards the enormous stage at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center was an amazing experience.
- The support from everyone was overwhelming, and overall, it was an unforgettable moment playing with the main team in my first LAN tournament.
What are your thoughts on your performance in Dallas?
- I'm not entirely satisfied, but I also don't feel like I fell short. The game against ENCE was the one time I definitely wasn't happy with my performance, but the other matches were okay.
- Overall, the team and I achieved the goals we set for our performance in Dallas. However, we could have gone even further in the playoffs with a few fewer individual mistakes.
What areas can you guys work on before entering the Spring Final in Washington?
- We need to continue doing a lot of the same things we did in Dallas but with a stronger focus on communication and game planning. Individually, we must push ourselves to perform just 10% better than our best, aiming for that extra level of improvement. However, I believe that if we maintain the positive trends we've shown, we can make our time in the US capital truly outstanding.
