After a marathon weekend, our Counter-Strike team have qualified for IEM Road to Rio 2022 Europe RMR in October!
The fourth and final open qualifier started Friday, August 26, at 18:00 CEST. Almost five hours later, at 22:41 CEST, their final battle began against Budapest Five, which they won 16-12, securing a chance for revenge against los kogutos on Saturday.
Saturday didn't start with the RMR qualifier, however - first, we had to play Round 3 in the BLAST Premier Fall Knockout Stage, where OG had just qualified. The match did not go to plan, ending 0-2, leaving more room for preparation against los kogutos and the ensuing matches later in the day.
We succeeded in getting revenge against los kogutos, advancing to beat BLUEJAYS, arriving at a final BO3 against Illuminar. Here we won two relatively confident map wins on Dust2 and Mirage, securing the sought-after IEM Road to Rio 2022 Europe RMR.
Sunday began with a dose of BLAST again, this time against Major Champions, FaZe. The match decided who qualified directly to BLAST Fall Finals and who would have to qualify through the BLAST Showdown. After two maps the score was 1-1, and the final map was Nuke. The first half ended 5-10 with us on the T-side. We quickly turned the tide to 10-10 with five rounds in a row, making it dead even. With a massive rating of 1.75, FaZe broky managed to close the match on a fatigued Astralis team, ending the series 1-2.
Now we recover and reboot, preparing for ESL Pro League Season 16, where we will play our first match against Complexity on September 14.
