Thank You Origen

January 19, 2021

A sincere thank you to our 2020 League roster

Astralis Group and Origen went for one last ride in the LEC in 2020. It was a season with its ups- and downs, but the team deserves a proper send-off for their hard work in the Rift.

Origen opened up the 2020 Spring Split in style, defeating Fnatic, Rogue, and Schalke 04.

By Week 5, Origen was in a four-way power struggle with G2, Misfits, and Fnatic, all sharing 1st place in the LEC.

Spring time excellence

The LEC mid-split award went to Top Laner Barney 'Alphari' Morris for his exceptional performance in Origen's first nine games of the Spring Split.

Alphari's top-lane skills will favor Team Liquid in the 2021 season

Origen finished the regular split with an impressive 13-5 record and a tied 2nd place, sending them to the LEC Spring Playoffs in the Winners Bracket. In the playoffs, Origen managed to put an end to Rogue's Spring Split, but lost at the hand of G2 and finished the split in a Top 3 position.

Origen met their demise at the hands of the LEC Spring Champions, G2 Esports

After the dust settled, Origen were highlighted several times in the post-split statistics. Especially bot laner Elias 'Upset' Lipp dominated categories like Highest DMG/M beating G2 superstar Caps. With 54.1% of Origen's total Damage Share, Upset displayed a high level during round 2 of the playoffs as well.

Upset completes Fnatic's roster for the 2021 season

Come Summertime, the success of the Spring Split could not be replicated as Origen lost momentum throughout the Summer and finished last in the split with all dreams of making it to Worlds vanishing.

Prima League content

During the players' time under Astralis Group they were also the center of attention in entertaining and educational content, like Rift 101 where each player provided some guidance for playing their respective roles.

In the first episode, Andrei 'Xerxe' Dragomir goes deep into the Jungle. A role he will fill for the LCS team Immortals come the 2021 season.

Amongst other Rift 101 videos we saw Origen's support Mitchell 'Destiny' Shaw explain what he does best, while Upset's guide to Wave Management pulled a lot of traffic from fans eager to learn.

Or what about the time Head Coach Andre Guilhoto went shopping for a new suit only to receive a... slightly underwhelming reaction from the players.

We thought the suit was nice and we are sure Immortals will love it too.

Goodbye and good luck

The players and coach have moved on to new teams in the LCS and LEC, while Erlend 'Nukeduck' Holm stays. The Astralis organization wishes all of them the best of luck in the 2021 season and extends a heartfelt thank you to:

  • Elias 'Upset' Lipp
  • Andrei 'Xerxe' Dragomir
  • Barney 'Alphari' Morris
  • Mitchell 'Destiny' Shaw
  • Jakub 'Jactroll' Skurzyński
  • Andre Guilhoto
  • Martin 'Deficio' Lynge

Thank you Origen. Vamos.
