Astralis Counter-Strike finished the year on #1 in the World Rankings for the third consecutive year. But the team also took the top spot on HLTV's Top 10 Top Teams of 2020. A list that differs from the World Rankings by ignoring decay and line-up changes but focuses solely on points earned in 12 months, in total and on average per tournament attended.
The list was contended by some of the strongest teams in professional Counter-Strike:
The top three (Astralis, NAVI, Vitality) were contenders for most of the premier tournament during the last half of 2020, often clashing in semi-finals and finals. Both NAVI and Vitality beat Astralis (Vitality in the Grand Final of BLAST Premier Fall Finals and NAVI at several stages throughout 2020's tournament circuit) but Astralis took revenge on both teams in the end to claim the lion's share of the trophies distributed among the three best Counter-Strike teams in 2020. All three of those teams will have the chance to test their strength on each other at BLAST Premier Global Finals on January 19 with 1 million USD on the line.
