Amidst celebrations for the five-year anniversary of Astralis, the Counter-Strike team took to the server to battle Evil Geniuses in the BLAST Premier Global Final for a spot in the Upper Semi-Finals.
Evil Geniuses selected Inferno as the first map of 2021, where a strong performance by both teams resulted in Astralis falling just short 14-16 after a hard-fought and close map.
Next up was Overpass as selected by Astralis, which saw the team up 11-4 after the first half on the T-side. The Evil Geniuses showed resilience as they attempted to claw their way back, but Astralis closed out Overpass 16-8 dominantly, with Xyp9x, dupreeh and gla1ve amassing a rating of 1.65, 1.51 and 1.37 respectively.
The third and final map of the series, Vertigo, resulted in yet another 11-4 first half in favor of Astralis. The second half was dominated by Astralis as well, as they closed out the map 16-6 with Magisk and device leading the charge.
Astralis look to further cement their status as the #1 team in the world, as they move on to face the winner of G2 vs. FURIA in the Upper Semi Finals on Thursday the 21st at 16:30.
