CS2 has arrived, and the first official match for Astralis in the new game resulted in a defeat.
The Danes have been invited to Roobet Cup 2023, a $250,000 online tournament, alongside Heroic, Monte, Eternal Fire, Virtus.pro and more. The first match for the Danes was against 9INE in Group C.
On Astralis' map pick, Ancient, 9INE began by winning the first two rounds, but the score was quickly tied up 2-2. The rounds went back and forth in the first half, ending 6-6. Unfortunately, 9INE powered through on their T-side, claiming the victory 9-13.
9INE continued their form on Mirage by claiming the first five rounds. The Danes responded with three consecutive rounds, but 9INE's T-side was strong, which resulted in a 4-8 half-time score.
Benjamin "blameF" Bremer and his troops fought back into the game after being down 7-12, scoring 11-12. Despite a remarkable comeback attempt, 9INE crawled over the finish line, winning the second map 11-13.
After the game, Victor "Staehr" Staehr joined Astralis Watch for a quick Danish interview about the match.
"They played a great game. We had a tough time on our CT-sides. We were a bit too passive, and I don't think that's how to play in the new game. You have to be a bit more aggresive." - Staehr on the match vs 9INE.
The journey in Roobet Cup 2023 isn't over yet as we'll face against the loser of BIG vs. Apeks on Saturday, October 28th, at 18:00 CEST.
