New Faces Enter the Rift

December 1, 2022

Today, we proudly announce some big changes for the 2023 LEC season.

We are proud to announce that veteran toplaner Finn "Finn" Wiestål has transferred from EXCEL to Astralis. Finn is a versatile player who brings a wide range of skills and solid experience to the team.

Finn 'Finn' Wiestål

Finn has been a household name at the top of European League of Legends since 2019 when he joined Rogue. Most notably, Finn finished first in the LEC 2020 Summer regular season with Rogue and qualified for the playoffs with EXCEL in the 2022 Summer Split, where he had some great performances.

Doğukan '113' Balcı

Furthermore, we are adding Doğukan '113' Balcı as our newest jungler. '113' transfers from Karmine Corp, where he won EUMasters and played alongside star players such as Cabochard and Rekkles.

Despite his young age of 18 years, 113 has had a quick rise to the top, winning the EUMasters in his first split with Karmine Corp.

Kasper Hvidt, Director of Sports

- With the addition of 113 and Finn, we feel we have a very interesting mixture of pure skill, experience, and immense talent. We firmly believe that both of these players will be central pieces in continuing our progress from last split, despite falling short of qualifying for the playoffs. We are not very far from qualifying, and our clear ambition is to go far in the coming season.

- I feel the changes to the LEC format are a very interesting challenge and probably give new excitement to the fans. We don't change our goals because of any format changes, and we want to compete for a spot in the playoffs.

- Everyone on the team is hungry to show up, and I firmly believe that all the work we have done, also moving the team to Berlin, will pay off this season.

NEW SETUP AND STAFF

We have also used the off-season to look into our setup around the team, and moving forward, our players will now practice from our new setup in Berlin.

Kasper Hvidt, continues

- Optimizing the structure around our team and a healthier practice environment overall was a big wish in this off-season. Therefore, I'm super excited that the team will now be training from a facility in Berlin, cutting down the amount of transport every week, and allowing us to focus even more on practice.

To further improve our setup, we welcome Jonas 'vandett0' Toth Jensen to the coaching staff, who has been promoted from our Astralis Talent team. We also welcome our new team manager, Becca, who joins us from EXCEL.

Our new team and staff members have already begun the preparations for the 2023 spring split and will have their debut in January when the season starts.

Also, on top of the new signings, we're happy to announce that Kasper "Kobbe" Kobberup has extended his contract for another season.
