Heading into their ninth match this season in the domestic league POWER Ligaen, the Women's team is still undefeated and in the lead of Division 4 (Group A) with 24 points.
Last week, in-game leader Aurora "aurora" Lyngdal and her troops solidified their hold on top by defeating Espergærde Esport Elite (13-7 on Overpass) and crushing Fatal Utility (13-5 on Vertigo) to cement their domination and superiority. On Wednesday, the women's team faces ICE Cream, the only opponent yet to be defeated by the Danes.
Asking Isabella "Ismo" Ferslev, there's no reason why the Danish lineup won't emerge victorious in yet another matchup in POWER Ligaen—the ambitions and the confidence within the roster are higher than it has ever been, states the 16-year-old rifler.
Ismo, thrilled about her team's top place in the POWER Ligaen, believes their recent success stems from the new, improved focus in the pracc room.
"It's cool to see our improved focus on practice finally paying off. We've successfully implemented the things we practiced onto the server and in-game, leading to some awesome wins. I hope we continue down this path. Over the last few months, we've strengthened our bond and understanding, becoming a stronger unit. With the social dynamics in place, performing well on the server is easier," says Ismo.
"All team members have settled into roles that perfectly suit their strengths, encouraging better teamwork overall. We've also developed strong strategies for both the T and CT sides on most maps. Individual brilliance and moments of shine still happen—everyone still contributes with incredible plays. And one player who has truly impressed me this season is Josefine. Her dedication and skill have been invaluable to our success," Ismo states.
The young, talented rifler, Ismo, boasts a headshot percentage (HS%) of 61%—just one percentage below the team's best at shooting heads, which is Josefine "Josefine" Jensen with 62%.
Catch all the action on Astralis Watch as the BO1 duel against ICE Cream starts at 19.00 CET on February 7.
Marie "marie" Toft, the other 16-year-old rifler in the women's lineup, echoes her teammate's opinion on the transformative power of positive team dynamics:
"Our communication has shifted towards celebrating each other's achievements and maintaining high morale within the team," Marie explains.
"This is crucial for team spirit. When you make a good play and hear your teammates cheering you on through voice chat, it's a huge confidence boost and encourages you to maintain peak performance. It fosters a positive atmosphere and undeniably strengthens our team spirit," marie states.
This season, Ismo and her teammates have faced two other women's teams in their division, dominating both encounters with decisive victories. Their match against XI Female GamerPay stands out as a bit of a crowning achievement, showcasing their January success with a clean 13-0 sweep on Overpass.
"During our match against XI Female, everything just clicked. While our head coach, Søren 'Zibron' Geertsen, did join us in the lineup, we still managed to contribute with many significant plays, thus securing a clean sweep with a 13-0 victory. It felt amazing to decisively claim our position as Denmark's top women's team," says Ismo.
