Unfortunately, the main team lost its opening match at the BLAST Premier Fall Final against Complexity in an intense battle, culminating in a disheartening defeat after losing 14 consecutive rounds on the T side of the second map, Overpass.
The Danes initially led 10-2 with a robust performance on the defensive side and won two critical rounds at the start of the 2nd half, securing both the pistol and subsequent anti-eco round. However, the North American team, Complexity, then launched an impressive comeback with 14 straight rounds, clinching the match in overtime on Overpass with a final score of 16-12. The 14-round streak by Complexity effectively shut down the offensive strategies of the Danish squad, who managed to plant the bomb only once in the final round of the 2nd half. This plant almost led to a victory, but a crucial double kill by Johnny "JT" Theodosiou turned the tide, enabling Complexity to force the game into overtime.
Buzz: We must channel the same energy we had in Shanghai at the Asia Championships. It's crucial that we give everything we have to reach the Royal Arena.
Devastated yet composed, Christian "Buzz" Andersen took the time after the dramatic duel to express his thoughts on the clash with Complexity.
"Our performance was certainly not what we had hoped for. We had a decent start on Ancient, securing five rounds on the T side in the 1st half. However, we unfortunately couldn't keep up that momentum after switching sides. On Overpass, our initial dominance quickly faded, and we failed to close out the map for some frustrating reason. This led to a punishing streak of 14 rounds in Complexity's favor," said Buzz.
"I must admit, I am left with significant disappointment. The result was far from what we aimed for. The opportunity to play in the Royal Arena mean everything to us, so losing the first match and risking our chance on the grand stage is particularly bitter," the rifler notes
"It's clear we need to identify and fix our issues swiftly. We must channel the same energy we had in Shanghai at the Asia Championships. It's crucial that we give everything we have to reach the Royal Arena."
