dev1ce: I don't Aim to be the Vocal Guy Constantly Directing Others

October 10, 2023

In the final part of the portrait series on Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz, the superstar AWPer reflects on his leadership style, particularly within a Counter-Strike roster that includes young, inexperienced prodigies.

dev1ce: I don't Aim to be the Vocal Guy Constantly Directing Others

Unlike the main team's in-game leader, Benjamin "blameF" Bremer, tasked with giving orders and ensuring the team operates seamlessly on the server, 28-year-old major winner dev1ce emphasizes his role as leading by example rather than being as vocal as his new IGL.

Without question, dev1ce is the most experienced player on the current roster. Boasting 24 LAN trophies and 19 MVP titles, younger players such as Christian "Buzz" Andersen, Victor "Staehr" Staehr, and previously emerging riflers like Alexander "Altekz" Givskov undoubtedly have much to learn from the veteran AWPer.

Fortunately, the legendary pro player is always willing to guide his younger teammates. He states:

- One of my defining traits, both as a person and as a player, is that I may not be the loudest leader. However, I believe I make thoughtful and responsible decisions both in-game and in real life.

- I hope my actions inspire my teammates, rather than me needing to dictate every move just because I have "a few more years" in the game. I appreciate it when people approach me for advice. I'd instead demonstrate my methods, drawing from my vast experience, to motivate and inspire them to make their own decisions. I don't aim to be the vocal guy constantly directing others. I prefer to lead by example, dev1ce points.
