On the first day of the BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024, our Main team, led by in-game leader Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz, secured a comfortable victory over Falcons, featuring former Astralis players Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, Emil "Magisk" Reif, and legendary head coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen.
Our team dominated almost from start to finish in the Group B opening round, closing the series 2-0 (Dust2 13-7, Ancient 13-9). The first win of the season is in the bag, making a strong debut for the fall.
dev1ce: The map is now a bit more aggressive for CTs, and it's actually a bit difficult for the T-side to win rounds now
In a post-match interview on Retake, dev1ce was asked about his lineup's aggressive mindset on the CT side of Dust 2:
"Yes, because of the recent change to Dust 2, with the new Catwalk self-boost, the map is now being played a bit more aggressively, as seen in the Spirit vs OG match. So yeah, it comes naturally. The map is now a bit more aggressive for CTs, and it's actually a bit difficult for the T-side to win rounds now," dev1ce said.
"Today's aggressive playing style on the defensive side of Dust 2 was more due to the map changes than a direct game plan."
"At the end of last season, it was clear that we were affected by not having time for practice. Therefore, the map pool changes hit us a bit hard. We always strive to be ready right from the start. If that was apparent, then we can only be happy," the IGL noted.
Next up for Casper "Ruggah" Due's troops is a face-off against Vitality in the Group B Upper Final. The winner will earn two chances to qualify for the upcoming Fall Final.
dev1ce and Co. never let go of control on Dust 2 (Falcons' map pick), delivering a super aggressive defensive performance on the CT side. They made it 9-3 before switching sides, while the Falcons struggled to find the right solutions.
Winning 13-7 on Dust 2, the Danes were ready to close out the series on one of their favorite maps, Ancient. However, the Falcons initially seized the momentum by winning the pistol round on defense.
Still, Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard, playing brilliantly, stopped the comeback with a 1v2 clutch and two crisp headshots, making it 6-6 at halftime.
The Main team dominated the middle on Ancient's CT side, and they were looking for many openings and multi-kills. With a solid defensive showing in the latter half, our guys pulled off a 7-3 scoreline to lock down the series 2-0 in the end.
