Altekz's debut match resulted in a convincing 2-0 victory against GamerLegion in our first match of Brazy Party 2023.
The $333.000 online tournament runs from April 26 to May 3, where 16 teams battle it out in four groups, where the two best from each group qualify for the Playoffs.
Between our latest tournament and this one, we've made changes to the Astralis roster. Xyp9x and Altekz have switched teams - and after some weeks of practice, it was finally time for the 19-year-old's debut.
Our first opponent in Group C was GamerLegion, a team who did well at the recent RMR and is currently ranked #27 globally.
Buzz kicked off the match with a 2v1 clutch in the pistol round on the A site of Ancient. We continued in that fashion for the entire first half, where especially blameF was on fire as he achieved an insane 1.90 rating and 16 frags.
We led 12-3 and then switched to the CT side. Altekz proved his defensive capabilities in his debut, earning a 1.31 rating in the second half. GamerLegion did push back a bit, but in the end, we claimed a 16-8 victory.
Vertigo was up next, and a short break between the maps didn't ruin our performance. It was actually the complete opposite. We strung together seven rounds in a row and set ourselves up for a great half with great performances from blameF and Altekz. However, GamerLegion responded well by almost tying the first half 8-7.
Another round streak was inbound when we started the second half when we won four consecutive rounds. GamerLegion then won their first and only round in the latter half. dev1ce then pulled off a 3v1 clutch with the AWP to start the last round-winning streak to win the map 16-8.
Ultimately we won 2-0 in our opening match of Brazy Party 2023, where Altekz performed very well in his debut. We're looking forward to seeing more of him on Saturday, April 29, when we're facing the winner of ENCE vs. SAW at 17:00 CEST.
