BLAST Premier World Final 2024: Three Players Among The Highest Rated

Despite not reaching the Grand Final, the Main team can be proud of their accomplishment at the $1,000,000 tournament, who reached the Semi-final before losing 1-2 against Team Spirit.

After the Semi-final, Casper "cadiaN" Møller, the IGL for the Danes, spoke about their performance at the BLAST World Finals 2024.

Among The Best

The Danish squad had three players within the top five highest-rated players at the BLAST Premier World Final 2024. stavn, dev1ce, and jabbi all had a tremendous tournament, locking in spots alongside Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov and Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut.

  1. mONESY - 11 maps - 1.35 rating
  2. stavn - 7 maps - 1.29 rating
  3. ZywOo - 11 maps - 1.28 rating
  4. dev1ce - 7 maps - 1.25 rating
  5. jabbi - 7 maps - 1.24 rating
stavn was the second highest-rated player of the tournament.

Exceeding Expectations

Coming into the BLAST Premier World Final 2024, one of the most stacked tournaments of the year, the outside expectations weren't exactly high, as captain cadiaN said in an interview with HLTV regarding the opening matchup versus NAVI: "Nobody is expecting us to do much against them."

The expectations were exceeded as the Danes began their tournament campaign by beating the highest-ranked team in the world, Natus Vincere, in a convincing fashion, 2-0.

The trio of Martin "stavn" Lund, Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard, and Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz kickstarted the tournament well by pulling off excellent performances, with stavn topping the scoreboard in the opening victory.

  • Both stavn and jabbi delivered a magnificent 1.60 rating'

Straight to The Semi-Final

On the other side of the bracket, MOUZ beat FaZe to advance to the Group A Upper Final, facing cadiaN and his companions.

The first time this iteration of Astralis played Vertigo was successful, comfortably defeating MOUZ, ranked fourth in the world, 13-7. The experienced AWPer, dev1ce, led the charge on Vertigo with a 1.72 rating.

Coming back from a 2-5 half, the Danish quintet won MOUZ's map pick, Nuke, 13-9, where Victor "Staehr" Staehr especially shined.

Group A Upper Final

  • Astralis 2 - 0 MOUZ
  • Vertigo (13-7) and Nuke (13-9)
  • Staehr was amazing throughout both maps, gaining a 1.50 rating versus MOUZ
The 20-year-old rifler was marvelous versus MOUZ.

Map Blowouts

By winning against MOUZ, the Main team advanced directly into the Semi-final, where they eventually met Team Spirit in a best-of-three.

The first two maps became one-sided affairs, with Spirit taking their map pick 5-13 and the Danes winning Vertigo 13-3, where dev1ce and stavn played huge roles.

Unfortunately, the decider, Ancient, followed the trend and was convincingly won by the opponents 5-13, ultimately defeating the Danes 1-2.

Semi-final

  • Astralis 1 - 2 Spirit
  • Dust2 (5-13), Vertigo (13-3) and Ancient (5-13)
  • stavn was the highest-rated player among the Danes, reaching a 1.24 rating across all three maps.

What's Next?

  • The Main team meets 9 Pandas on November 21, 2024, when participating in the Shanghai Major Europe RMR B.
