With a comfortable win over Complexity in the last match, the main team's next opponent was Team Liquid. With a win over Liquid, a team with which the Danish squad has had numerous legendary matches, the Danes would secure a spot at the BLAST Premier Fall Final in Copenhagen.
A spot in the Fall Finals on home soil would require a strong and determined performance from blameF and Co., and they delivered!
First up was the Danes' map pick, Overpass.
Liquid had a better start with a pistol round win and the subsequent round win. From there on out, neither side proved truly dominant in the first half. With round advantages going back and forth, each round was crucial.
Crucial rounds required crucial clutches, and here Victor "Staehr" Staehr delivered!
Staehr impressed Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz with his AWP skills and was also the highest-rated player on Overpass with a 1.29 rating!
The tight first half ended with a 7-8 score in the Danish quintet's favour, and the team were now on the defensive side.
Again, Liquid secured the first two rounds of the half, but after that, the team dominated with no mercy. Seven round wins in a row set the score at 9-15, after which Liquid took two more rounds before the Danes secured the win.
Notable on the Danish team's CT side were both dev1ce and Johannes "b0RUP" Borup, who managed ratings of 1.58 and 1.67, respectively!
The two Danes combined for 46 frags across the map, as well!
Despite being Liquid's map pick, the Danes' dominance did not falter after the short break. Five round wins right off the bat set the bar for our performance in the second map. Liquid fought back in the first half and secured enough rounds to end the half on an 8-7 score in their favour, but nothing shook the destructive Danes!
The T side was nearly flawless, as demonstrated by the incredible teamwork displayed below:
One round was what the team lost to Liquid in contrast to nine round wins - eight of which were in a row straight from the second half's beginning! An absolutely massive display from the team, which included a 1.46 rating from the IGL boulder that is blameF.
