There is one last game to be played at the top level of professional Counter-Strike: The Grand Final of the $500,000 tournament IEM Global Challenge.
Astralis has clawed through Complexity, Vitality, and NAVI to reach the Grand Final on December 20, 17:00 CET. On the other side of the battlefield stands a familiar foe: Team Liquid.
The North American team is the only other teams besides Astralis to win an Intel Grand Slam during the two teams' notorious rivalry throughout 2018 and 2019. The past two Counter-Strike seasons have been wrapped up with an Astralis vs. Team Liquid Grand Final and it looks like 2020 will follow the pattern.
Lukas 'gla1ve' Rossander, In-Game Leader:
- We have already proven that we stand on a strong foundation in Astralis and no matter what happens we can be proud of what we have achieved in 2020.
- That being said, a Grand Final triumph over Team Liquid would be the perfect ending to the year. We have sent a strong signal to the rest of the world already and that signal would only be amplified with a one last title in 2020.
No matter the outcome Astralis finish 2020 with three consecutive Grand Finals: DreamHack Masters Winter, BLAST Premier Fall Finals, and now IEM Global Challenge.
This historic showdown will be played in a BO5 format on December 20, 17:00 CET.
