The second season of the SL i-League StarSeries with a total prize pool of $300,000 will kick off on Wednesday in Kiev, Ukraine with our team in attendance.

A total of sixteen teams, including FaZe, GODSENT, G2 and Natus Vincere will be battling it out for five days at the National Palace of Arts to claim the illustrious $130,000 on offer for first place, $50,000 for second place and $25,000 for third and fourth place.

After being knocked out of POWERLAN in Denmark, the boys decided to spend another week at boot camp before flying out to Kiev for the tournament and Peter ‘dupreeh‘ Rothmann believes they have improved over the last week.

He said: “The boot camp for POWERLAN in my opinion went really well and although we didn’t win POWERLAN which was the goal for us, I think we learnt a lot which is why we decided to hold another one.

“We weren’t satisfied with losing POWERLAN and we get a lot more out of our practice when we actually sit together in a room at boot camp.

“So far we have got some pretty solid results by beating FaZe five out of six times and I think we improve all the time from practicing so that makes us happy.”

Astralis, who will enter the tournaments on a high after qualifying for ESL One New York, will need to beat two teams from Natus Vincere, Heroic and TyLoo in the group stage, to progress to the BO3 quarter-finals.

World champions SK Gaming recently dropped out of the tournament as Fer undergoes surgery, while SIXER replaces NBK- for EnVy as a stand in.

NaVi, who will have the support of the mostly Ukrainian crowd, will be the team to beat in the group stages.

Looking ahead to the tournament dupreeh said: “Right now I don’t think there is a team I fear in that way – the only one I do fear is us.

“Our own individual performances can differ so much – either we play really well or we play like a bunch of scrubs. I think we are our own worst enemy.

“SK isn’t going to be there as far as I know and they would be the best team to beat and obviously playing the new NaVi line-up is going to be tough, but it would be fun to beat them on their home turf.”
